![]() ![]() Replace the full version with the proxy version, and also control the amount of triangles if you like. ![]() ![]() Replacing V-Ray Proxy with Simple Geometry This is not critical as we are going to simply this even further. I’m taking a very simple approach to using proxy stand-ins inside SketchUP. #Free vray proxy trees PatchWe don’t even need the small triangle amounts generated by the proxy export process… All we need is the patch boundary – This could be a simple line circle. Considering the amount of proxies we are going to scatter, this will help a lot to reduce the load on the viewport. I’m picking the triangles and hiding them away, as well as the base circle face – all we need is the circle. Or any other shape that defines the patch you created. I also add a small line point upwards to indicates that so we don’t flip them by mistake during a scatter operation. I’m doing a quick test render to make sure the proxies are working ok first. Next, to demonstrate with a lawn, I’m creating the plane on which we will scatter the proxies. Not too complex and all done from within SketchUP! This is how it all looks after the scatter : I’m using the Make Fur plugin again, this time with the Crowd scatter feature which allows loading of several SketchUP components for the process. In the following how-to you’ll see how I made a more complex scene based on the same method showcased here.Apologies for newbie confused question - I was looking for some clarity on vray tree proxys.Īs a novice who's viewed the chaos video on proxys I was hoping to create a tree from an existing model and just start using the ex / import proxy tool. Really great free 3d model, this tree, available sketchup 8, shared and modeled by our friend Dadi Nazriel Supriadi of which here we see the result in its gorgeous render made with vray for sketchup, A big thank you Dadi, for this excellent contribution! A dialog box will appear allowing you to search for V-Ray Proxy (.vrmesh) or alembic (.abc) files. To override an RPC family with a V-Ray Proxy, click the checkbox next to the RPC name. I think i'm on the right track now, sort of, I exported the tree via vray proxy and it now has a lot less facets etc to the tree, I imported the tree into my scene (via file import not vray proxy import - as that seems to lose the materials) but now the render goes weird despite the tree looking correct on the screen - black in the frame buffer or weird render with just the glass on? V-RAY FOR SKETCHUP Professional rendering for architects & designers. This one is interesting because it brings the trees in as proxy objects in your model, meaning that you never actually see the geometry in your SketchUp model, but instead you just export it to a rendering program like Vray or Thea Render, and the rendering program renders the trees. ![]()
